Flight attendant explains how she opens plane door despite being ‘too short’

A flight attendant has impressed viewers with her athleticism by filming how she manages to open a plane door despite being 5ft tall.

In a TikTok video, user @ninjaflightattendant shows how she reaches the handle on the door of the Alaska Airlines plane with her skillful "hops".

She walks over the plane and pulls a lever next to the door to unlock it, then leaps into the air and grabs the handle, holding onto it until the door and its stairs start to fall down.

The flight attendant says "ta-da!" and gestures at the now-open door.

"Too short to be a flight attendant? Not if you have hops," she joked in the on-screen text, adding in the caption: "Tell me you are short without telling me you are short."

Her video has been "liked" more than 1.8 million times and many people said it resonated with them.

One user said, "Us short people have hidden skills", while another joked, "She literally levitated herself".

A third viewer shared: "The life of short people. 70 years in and still jumping."

Meanwhile, other people said their height had stopped them from achieving their own dreams, with one commenting: "I always wanted to be a flight attendant but I heard that I'm too short."

"My dream job was to be a flight attendant but whenever I read the height requirements it saddened me," said a second.

Alaska Airlines doesn't have an exact height requirement, with its website stating that candidates will need to be able to "reach 80 vertical inches".

Potential flight crew also have to be fluent in English, have good customer service skills, and pass swimming and other training tests.

This comes after a flight attendant complained about three of the most annoying types of customers he has to put up with.
