A flight attendant has shared the disgusting reason why she ‘tries to avoid’ using the plane’s restroom.

Taking to Reddit’s AMA (Ask Me Anything) subreddit, the 33-year-old female airline worker, who goes by sassy_chick01, said she was ‘sitting thru (through) turbulence’ and offered up her time to answer people’s burning questions about air travel. 

During the Q&A session, the flight attendant made a gross revelation about the onboard amenities after one person asked: ‘Real talk: How dirty are the planes? What about the bathroom?’

‘Planes are filthy. They don’t disinfect them,’ she confessed.

‘Bathrooms are basically just wiped down quickly between flights.’

The flight attendant left her post open to all questions except for ones that inquired about the ‘mile high club,’ which she found ‘annoying’ since she ‘already answered that.’

Another curious Reddit user asked her: ‘Do you have to use the same lavatories as passengers? 

‘I don’t think I’ve ever seen an FA (flight attendant) use the lavatory.’

The flight attendant responded candidly: ‘Yep we do. Most of us try to avoid going in there if possible.’ 

And she has every reason to be appalled by the thought of using a toilet because ‘the airplane bathroom flush button had 265 bacteria colony forming units (CFU) per square inch,’ according to Forbes. 

Despite assumptions that the restroom is the most unhygienic area in a plane, there are other parts that are surprisingly more dirty.

Believe it or not, airplane seatback trays are in first place for the filthiest spot.

The trays have eight times more bacteria than restrooms -about 2,155 CFU per square inch.

Experts recommend wiping down tray tables with antibacterial wipes before you eat off of them. 

They also advised people to bring their own blankets.

Freshly washed blankets and pillows are only supplied to the first flights of the day. 

After a flight, the items are folded up and then reused by the next passengers.

Also, make sure to keep hand sanitizer close by to stay germ-free during your flight.
