Flight attendant warns passengers not to bring nail polish on flights
There’s a whole list of items that holidaymakers aren’t allowed to take on planes due to safety reasons. These include obvious things like knives, explosives or ammunition.
However, there’s one thing that you can take on a plane – but should never use while in the air. Doing so could mean you’re handed a massive fine and may even be blacklisted from the airline.
A flight attendant explained the rule to The Points Guy. Lisa Kulpa, co-founder of the Basic Travel Couple blog plus flight attendant for a major airline, shared her insider tip, reports the Express.

She warned: "Please, please, please do not bring personal alcohol and consume it during the flight. We need to know (for your safety and those around you) if you are intoxicated."
You might wonder why you’re not allowed to drink your own booze when the airlines serve alcohol themselves. But, no, it’s not just so that they can charge you double the amount for a bottle of beer.
The cabin crew apparently need to be able to see how drunk you are. Plus, they must be able to cut you off if you’re getting too tipsy.
Lisa continued: "By serving you alcohol in flight, we can monitor how much you are drinking. Alcohol affects you differently at higher altitudes, and if you are suddenly passed out or something goes wrong, we won't know the reason."
Plus, the repercussions won’t just be if there’s an emergency. She noted that in many countries it’s an offence.
Lisa added: "Also, it is a federal offence, and you can be fined thousands of dollars." British airlines may also fine you – and being intoxicated on a flight is an offence under Article 139(1) of the Air Navigation Order 2009, and carries a maximum sentence of up to two years imprisonment.
While you shouldn’t drink your own alcohol on a flight it is fine to bring Duty Free booze on board. Just leave it sealed in your bag or store it in the overhead lockers.
Not only does Lisa suggest leaving booze out of your plane itinerary, but any manicure kits should be avoided too. The insider stated: "Other things to not do or bring in flight – nail clippers, nail polish, nail polish remover.
"These products will make the whole plane smell, and some people get sick from it. Other smelly things that are not really wanted include any extremely fragrant food. Even fast food sometimes stinks up a plane."
She also suggested that passengers bring headphones or ear buds to avoid annoying other holidaymakers with loud or repetitive noises. Plus, make sure anything vital is kept on your person – like medications and house keys.
Putting important things in the hold means they’re more likely to get lost. Nobody wants to be chasing their medication or keys while on holiday.
Lisa added: "If you check your bag, be sure to pack a change of clothes and a toothbrush to bring on board with you." Because planes can "definitely be cold", the expert advised layering up with a small blanket or jumper.
