Who better to give travel tips than a flight attendant? Tommy Cimatro’s latest TikTok video entitled Five Things YOU Should Never Do On An Airplane has gone viral on the sharing platform.

Covid may feel like a thing of the past when it comes to travel, but there are still plenty of germs on an aircraft to be wary of.

Tommy firstly warned travellers against touching the flush button or lever in an aeroplane toilet.

He called this part of the plane “super unsanitary” and “pretty gross”, advising passengers “never” to touch it.

Instead, passengers should grab a piece of tissue and cover their hands before flushing.

And as if the unsanitary plane toilet isn’t bad enough, Tommy told passengers to stay wary even in their seats.

He told passengers never to sleep or lean on the windows.

This may be comfortable, however, you don’t know how many people have done this before you.

There’s even a chance a small child – or adult – has wiped their dirty hands all over it.

Leaning back is probably a better option for a more sanitary experience – and to prevent any breakouts.

Inside the cabin, the air is dry, putting passengers at a higher risk of dehydration.

Finally, holidaymakers jetting abroad should make themselves familiar with the flight attendants.

They are there to help, he said, adding: “Don’t be afraid to let them know if you’re feeling sick.”

Tommy’s helpful video has amassed more than 650,000 likes, with over 3,000 comments and a whopping 24,000 saves for future travellers.

TikTok users were pretty appalled to discover just how unhygienic planes could potentially be.

@Franc joked: “Don’t breathe the air, it’s recycled.”

@KingAlex asked: “Don’t they sanitise after every flight?”

Tommy thankfully confirmed that the ground crew try their best to keep it clean – “this is just in case it gets missed”.

Fellow flight attendant Rosalie Edith took to YouTube in a video entitled ‘Flight Attendant Tag’, where she spoke about some of the most infuriating things customers do on board a flight.

She asked flyers: “Please don’t leave your half peeled, half-eaten, hard-boiled eggs in the seat pockets.”
