Flight attendants say being nice and dressing well are key to getting an upgrade
Getting a flight upgrade is the holy grail of travel; you pay for an economy ticket, but you can end up enjoying a First Class or Business Class experience without the ridiculous costs.
You may think they don’t actually exist but many travellers have shared their stories of being bumped up a class online, whether that’s because another passenger was being a pain or just dumb luck.
But, one flight attendant has explained her top tips for bagging the best seat on Reddit.

She opened up to social media users about life as a flight attendant with no closed off subjects.
One passenger asked: “There's a free seat in business class or, better yet, first class. Is there any move I can make to get it?”
To which the flight attendant noted: “Yes, it’s not easy but there are ways to qualify. Be really, really friendly.
“Help an attendant when necessary (lifting bags, help with spilled drinks). We might be nicer when we see you are struggling (2m tall guys in economy, very annoying person next to you).”
So it seems being polite and helpful to the crew is the best way to get in their good books.
Another cabin crew member previously claimed that how you dress can have an impact on your chances too.
The British flight attendant said that dressing smartly will help you get a flight upgrade.
In an interview with Who What Wear, a cabin crew-member said: “For an upgrade, it's all about looking the part. Smart but understated.
“You should look like you travel often. But don't be dripping in designer clothing.”

And according to another cabin crew-member, there is also some attire that you should avoid.
If you are wearing sportswear or scruffy denim, you’re unlikely to be upgraded.
A second air hostess commented: “When we fly, we have a strict dress code to follow. No jeans or trainers.”
