Hiker dies in the Beaver Creek Wildlife Area of Fremont County
A person died over the weekend while hiking the Beaver Creek Wildlife Area of Fremont County, search and rescue officials said Monday.
The Fremont County Search and Rescue Team was activated Sunday afternoon at around 4 p.m. to help two hikers, one of which was in medical distress, according to a news release from the team. The hikers were approximately three miles in on the Powerline Trail Loop in the Beaver Creek Wildlife Area when the call was made.
By the time the team arrived at their location, one of the hikers had already died, according to a news release.
The search and rescue team returned to the trailhead with both hikers at around 4:30 a.m. Monday. Their identities were not immediately released.
In a short statement, the search and rescue team gave their condolences to the family and friends of the hiker who passed away.
