How to Reserve Disneyland Tickets as Theme Park Announces Reopening Date
Disney fans rejoice: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park have announced that they are planning to officially reopen on April 30, though the parks will only be open to California residents and with a limited capacity.
The Disneyland blog explains how the park will take social distancing into consideration, including having characters “pop up in new ways and sometimes in unexpected places” while experiences such as parades and nighttime spectaculars will not return straight away, to avoid crowds gathering.

The theme park’s capacity will be significantly limited, so the Disneyland Resort is introducing a new theme park reservation system that will require guests to book in advance, as well as having valid admission for the same park on the same date. This rule will apply to all Disneyland guests aged three and up.

The blog post also reiterates reservations will be limited and subject to availability, and Disneyland has not yet announced when Disney fans from outside of California will be able to visit.
Although the park will reopen to the public on April 30, lucky cast members and members of the local community will get to attend a limited-time ticketed experience (which has already sold out) called “A Touch of Disney,” which will run from today until April 19.
Additionally, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa is set to reopen on April 29, but the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will reopen at a later date. The Downtown Disney District is currently open with select retail and dining locations.
Californians looking to attend Disney as soon as the park opens its doors should keep an eye on Disneyland.com, as more details about the new reservation system will be available soon.
It is unclear how limited capacity will be but according to California’s most recent guidelines, announced on March 5: “Amusement parks are eligible to reopen in the Red tier beginning April 1. Capacity will be limited to 15 percent in the Red tier.
“In the Orange tier, that limitation will increase to 25 percent, and then 35 percent in the Yellow tier. Attendance will be limited to in-state visitors.”
On Wednesday, Disney CEO Bob Chapek told CNBC: “We’ve seen the enthusiasm, the craving for people to return to our parks around the world. We’ve been operating at Walt Disney World for about nine months, and there certainly is no shortage of demand.
He added: “I think as people become vaccinated, they become a little bit more confident in the fact that they can travel, and, you know, stay Covid-free. Consumers trust Disney to do the right thing, and we’ve certainly proven that we can [open] responsibly, whether it’s temperature checks, masks, social distancing, [or] improved hygiene around the parks.”
