‘I saved £1,800 on a Florida holiday by changing how I searched for prices’
Black Friday is almost upon us and travel agents are already launching their top sales.
Brits wanting to bag a bargain holiday will be able to find some cheap options for winter sun and holidays in 2023.
The discount week may be particularly important for those feeling the pinch who still want to jet off sometime in the next 10 months.

Already, lastminute.com has offered up flash deals starting from £100 per person and savings of up to £300 on packages.
Meanwhile Travelodge is selling off one million rooms in the UK from £34 each for those who prefer staycations.
But, there are some tricks outside of the deals that could save you even more money when planning a holiday abroad.
Reporting for Manchester Evening News, Narin Flanders claims he used one simple trick to save £1,800 on his holiday to Florida.
He was looking for a car hire in Florida for a two week trip, but was quoted an extreme £3,000.
Narin noted: “Having discussed the problem with my mum-in-law I was shocked to get a message from her one day saying we should book the car now because she’d found a deal for exactly what we wanted for £1,449.
“She sent us the name of the car hire company and we went online to book it.
“Except when we put in the same dates and type of car into the site we got a price of £3,248.”
He added: “We realised that the only difference was her price was being given in dollars.”
The family decided to try accessing the car hire website using a VPN – a “virtual private network” that essentially disguises where you are when using the internet.
Narin said: “We accessed the site using a VPN – and suddenly we too were being offered exactly the same car for, once you converted the price into pounds, less than half the price.”
They went on to book the car using their UK driving licence, address and credit card with no issues.
When they got to America the process continued to be seamless.
Narin noted: “We had just, thanks to a glitch in the way my mum-in-law’s iPhone was set up, saved a massive chunk of money on the cost of our holiday.”
Now, the holiday fan claims he’ll use a VPN to save money whenever he books – adding: ‘We are already looking to plan a holiday next summer and have one eye on Black Friday deals to save money doing this, but we’ll also be checking international sites while using a VPN to see if we can get better deals that way.”
He suggested trying VPN servers like ExpressVPN or NordVPN.
Narin said: “If you want to access deals and discounts offered to US consumers choose a North American server, although you’ll see other options from across the world so, for example, if you want to see if Qantas deals offered to Australian consumers are better than UK-based ones choose an Aussie server.”
