Little visited village compared to Christmas card with its ‘quaint’ charm
A small village in England has worked its way into the spotlight after visitors enamoured with its quaint and quirky charm likened it to a Christmas card.
Postling, in Kent, boasts a vast expanse of untouched beauty that is perfect for long and quiet excursions in nature.
According to its visitors, the spot feels like stepping into a storybook, flaunting cast iron white signs with names of nearby villages at street corners.
Short of pubs and shops to entertain, the town is little-visited by UK travellers. Its unmatched quietness is the main draw for many travellers, however.
Picture-perfect streets are also bound to charm visitors with their neatly trimmed hedges and well-maintained houses.

Visitors often take note of the abundance of “little cottages” in the vicinity, with many delighted to find an iconic red telephone box there too.
The village, which is pronounced like ‘post’ as opposed to ‘lost’, houses a mere 200 residents.
During the warmer months, fields quickly fill with cows and sheep. There’s also a 12th-century church, St Mary and St Radund, which houses medieval wall paintings.
Although there are no pubs on the visits, The Gatekeeping in Etchinghill, is located around 1.5 miles away from the village, on Canterbury Road.

The building dates back to 1595 and offers hearty Sunday roasts. It happens to be dog-friendly too. It has four out of five stars from 421 reviews on TripAdvisor, where it was crowned a Trvellers’ choice in 2023.
The latest review, dating back to October, reads: “Lovely lunch. Tasty homemade food. Great service and atmosphere. All credit where it’s due. Was busy so would advise booking.”
Another review read: “Good spot for walkers, we parked at the beginning of the old railway line in Peene, lovely walk there of about 40 mins, picked blackberries on the way back.
“Food was good, service a bit flowy. The outside terrace is nice.”
