British Airways apologised after a picture showing grey eggs and a not very appetising breakfast served to passengers in first class was shared on social media.
Some Twitter users said they had “seen better food in prison”.
It is reported the meal was served on a flight to Abuja, Nigeria.
The breakfast consisted of a sausage, four mushrooms, a burnt tomato, a questionable hashbrown and “grey” scrambled eggs.
The passenger posted a picture online saying: “First class #BritishAirways breakfast. Thoughts?”
One person thought the scrambled eggs were “wet tissue”.
Others thought the breakfast was just “unidentifiable”.
A Twitter user said: “Truly atrocious level of cuisine, irrespective of the class.
“I wouldn’t feed that to a dog. British Airways, hang your heads!”
“I’m not joking, I’ve been sent pictures of better plates of food from prison,” said another one.
Another social media user commented: “Crickey. I have always wanted to fly first class (without paying for it obviously).
“Well, that’s now one less thing on the old bucket list.”
User @benonwine said: “Looks disgusting, also what a horrible colour the egg is.”
@MrsMummypennyUK commented: “What’s the stodgy white stuff?? I do love a flight meal but this doesn’t look great.”
Twitter user @1cornishblue added: “Sausage looks dodgy, tomato burnt, mushrooms look okay, no idea what the rest of the stuff is.”
“Nothing first class about that.
“There are three things that are almost unidentifiable,” said Gareth Jenkins.
@Heather55965906 agreed: “Is that scrambled egg?
“Cause it looks nasty.”
A spokesperson for British Airways told the Mirror: “We’re speaking with our third-party caterers to understand what happened here, as this clearly doesn’t meet our usual high standards.
“We’re sorry we let our customers down on this occasion.”
