‘Lovely’ city in Cyprus tops list with British expats

Dreaming of leaving the UK for a sunnier spot? One of Europe’s best destinations for British expats has much more sunshine than the UK.

Cyprus is the Mediterranean’s third largest island and it’s no surprise the idyllic country is popular with Britons looking to escape dreary UK weather.

The property experts at Your Overseas Home have shared why Cyprus is so popular and explained exactly what Brits can expect from the housing market.

Christopher Nye, chief editor at Your Overseas Home, said: “Paphos is a captivating city known for its historical significance, so there’s no wonder so many people are looking to buy a second home or relocate here.

“Divided into Ktima and Kato Paphos, there’s plenty for history buffs to see and do. From ancient ruins, including Roman villas with exquisite mosaics and an impressive amphitheatre to renowned Tombs of the Kings.

“Nearby are lovely landscapes like the untouched Akamas Peninsula, serene beaches such as Coral Bay and Lara Bay, and the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite at Petra tou Romiou.”

Aphrodite’s Rock is a must-see on Paphos. The mythical sea rock is said to be the place where the goddess of beauty emerged from.

It’s forbidden to climb on the rock but it can be admired from the coastline and is most beautiful at sunset.
