Luxury UK hotel invites guests to scream into the void as part of £199 stays
This Halloween a luxury hotel and spa is offering Brits a "therapy" service where guests can scream into the void. You’ll be able to shriek out any tension surrounded by the gorgeous 400 acres of woodland on the hotel’s grounds.
While we’re not sure how other guests will feel hearing occasional shouts and wails echoing across the forest during their autumn staycation, the hotel claims it has some great benefits. (Although those looking for peace and quiet may think their stay is being haunted by angry banshees!).
Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa is tucked into the beauty of the Lake District and overlooks Bassenthwaite Lake. The hotel sits on the fells above the large lake making it a gorgeous spot to stay in. The hotel claims it has a profound connection to the nature that surrounds it and wants guests to be able to alleviate "emotional tension" through screaming.

So-called scream therapy – also known as primal scream therapy _ is apparently soothing for people with pent-up emotions and stress. Allowing yourself to shriek out your feelings might help to make you feel happier or reduce anxiety, the spa claims.
Now, anyone who doesn’t want to hear screams throughout their weekend away might want to avoid the parts of the woods where the sessions take place. But those who do want to get involved can head to the spa and "let it all out with a scream." Instructions for the therapy include: "take a breath, look up to the sky… scream".
According to Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa: "Scream therapy is a cathartic practice where individuals express their pent up emotions and stress by letting out loud, primal screams, often in a controlled and therapeutic setting it can help release emotional tension, reduce anxiety and promote a sense of emotional relief and wellbeing."
Lorela Movileano, Spa Manager of Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa says: "The demands of modern life can exact a toll on both our physical and mental well-being. While our spa offers rejuvenating and relaxing treatments to alleviate this stress, there are moments when a more unconventional approach is called for.
"Within our sprawling 400 acres of our private woodland, we've curated a haven where our guests can unapologetically be themselves and release pent-up emotions. This age-old practice, though unconventional, offers a cathartic experience that enables our guests to liberate themselves from emotional and physical tensions, fully embracing their journey to relaxation and self-discovery."
The scream therapy isn't the only thing to enjoy at the four-star resort. There are plenty of experiences on offer from alpaca walks to a bird of prey experience and meeting animals like lemurs that are taken care of nearby. Other activities on the estate include archery, clay pigeon shooting, photography courses, wild swimming and guided walks.
Another bonkers experience on offer is "forest and moon bathing." Moon bathing or star bathing essentially lets you rest under the moonlight, outside, in the dark.
Forest bathing is a guided meditation session where guests can "imagine growing their own roots to become part of the forest." This is followed by a tea ceremony to reflect forest bathing’s trendiness in Japan where the weather is nicer… and you’re less likely to be laying down in the rain.
The luxury spa offers a 16-metre infinity pool, hot tubs, a thermal suite and fitness centre plus a manicure and make-up area. treatments include A seaweed leaf wrap, anti-ageing facials, touch therapy, scalp treatments, men’s facials and body scrubs and mud wraps. You can even get a CBD massage and skin booster!
Those wanting to shell out £140 for a treatment can opt for the Champagne and truffles treatment – with a resurfacing peel, truffle formula products cold stone therapy, an alginate mask and massage. Plus, of course, a glass of bubbles and chocolate truffle.
A night at the hotel in their cheapest room, the Club Double, will set you back £199 in a recent offer (£285 without the offer) – split between two that’s £99.50 per person for the night. The price includes bed and breakfast.
