Man puts garden tent on Airbnb for ‘glamping’ that costs more than a hotel stay

A host on home rental site Airbnb has surprised holidaymakers after listing a tent in his back garden as a “glamping” spot.

The tent – which appears to be an average outdoors tent rather than a yurt – costs a whopping £55 per night plus fees* and is based in East Sussex.

Thin mattresses are provided within the tent alongside three blankets to warm up with.

But, the Airbnb does have the benefit of a hot tub and a fire pit at the Brighton and Hove location.

Guests can book the tent from January – when temperatures usually drop to 3C.

The tent is set within the family garden and is furnished with lamps, plants, teddy bears and flip flops as well as chest of drawers and pillows.

Host, Azz, explained on the Airbnb listing: “It might just be a tent but hidden in a lovely garden with sea views. Right in front of your tent is a firepit with garden furniture, and a hot tub nearby .

“Free off road parking, you also have access to the facilities in the house (hot shower, toilet, full kitchen facilities).

“Enjoy a beautiful sunset from the garden, which is lit with a changing colour LED spotlight.”

He continued: “And on certain nights, you can be entertained by the host‘s fire pit soirée with traditional Asian dances.”

Pets are welcome at the Airbnb and there is apparently a workspace in a common area with Wi-Fi.

Two guests have reviewed the tent with, surprisingly, positive outlooks.

Cathryn wrote: “Great two night stay in a lovely bedroom and enjoyed the wood fire in the garden made by Azz.

“Very welcoming and accommodating, good communication, great location for where we needed to be.”

While Desiree added: “Beautiful place, awesome host. Highly recommended!”

For those who prefer hotels, £17 more could bag you a one-night stay at the Brighton Harbour Hotel & Spa on the seafront.

Or, at the Old Ship Hotel which has stunning sea views.
