Man spotted ‘selling used vapes found on the street’ on Benidorm strip

A man has been spotted 'selling used vapes' he found on the street in Benidorm.

The Spanish town is a notorious party hotspot – some Brits have even ditched our nation to live there, and it's well known for its beautiful beaches, sunny weather and 88p drinks. While the strip can get wild the government has implemented new rules to keep disruption to locals to a minimum.

Now, a 15 second clip released on TikTok has shared yet another strange behaviour the poster says is "only in Benidorm". The creator, @bigballs162b, made a splash with his clip about a street seller in the Spanish town.

Filming on his phone the account, which documents all things Benidorm, showed a man standing on the corner of a street next to a sun lounger. On the floor beside him were dozens of e-cigarettes and vape pens.

The video creator said: "Only in Benidorm. In Benidorm, they’re selling used vapes that they’ve found on the street."

On the floor next to the man were dozens of disposable elf bar, Lost Mary and other vape pens in various colours alongside some cans of fizzy pop. Generally, the e-cigarette pens are thrown away once they run out of liquid.

Unlike some vape pens, the disposable ones are not meant to be refilled or reused. It’s also extremely unhygienic to use someone else’s e-cigarette due to saliva touching the mouthpiece.

In the video’s comments people were disgusted by the vapes being sold. One person wrote: "No chance people buy?"

While another added that they had walked past the seller everyday for 10 days. Another asked "Isn't that the guy selling empty vapes for a euro?"

One commenter joked: "I thought it was lost property when I saw it last week."

However, some claimed that the man wasn’t selling the e-cigarettes but was instead "playing a game". One such person said: "He doesn't sell them he's there everyday he just sets them up – he leaves all sorts there."

Whether the lost items are being sold or simply collected it's a lot of litter for one person to find on the streets. It's always best to find a bin to put your used items in instead.

Holidaymakers should be careful when in Spain as there are lots of new rules which could land you with a fine. Littering in certain beaches in Spain could land you with a €300 (£257) penalty – including cigarette butts, food items and other litter like empty vapes.

Other rules in the area state that going on the beach between midnight and 7am could mean you’re levied "a fine of £650 to £100" too. Plus, urinating in the sea can get you a fine of £130.
