An influencer has been blasted for posing naked on top of an Sumatran elephant in Bali.

Alesya Kafelnikova, 22, shared a boomerang of herself lying on top of the endangered mammal on February 13.

The model posted the short clip to her 536,000 followers on her Instagram account.

In the post, the Russian beauty sprawled out on top of the animal as it swished its tail and shook its ears.

When she shared the questionable video, she captioned it: "Natural vibes."

Then in another post on Instagram, Alesya uploaded a picture with the elephant telling fans "to love natural is human nature".

The response the model got was quite mixed.

While some fans adored the footage, others were less than impressed.

One said: "Poor elephant. Aren't you ashamed to lie naked on an elephant? This is a living creature. Money overshadows everything."

Another branded the photoshoot as a "violation" against the animal.

A third added: "This is not cool, just leave the elephant alone and use a chair or something. It's cruel guys."

Meanwhile, a fourth social media fan questioned: "It is generally hygienic?"

But the majority of the comments were positive for the model and the elephant.

One Instagram fan gushed: "How adorable is this elephant waving her ears," another added: "Goddess of nature and beauty."

It comes after the Sumatran elephant was changed from "endangered" to "critically endangered" by the WWF.

The change was due to deforestation and the degradation of its natural habitat.

Despite the model posing on the elephant in Bali, where she currently lives, the animal is not native to the Indonesian island.

The mammals are kept captive to serve the tourism industry in the Asian country.

Elephant riding is condemned by many animal charities including PETA.
