Where do travel enthusiasts like to go abroad? Do they prefer staycations, quick European getaways or travelling further afield? Luggage storage specialist Bounce delved into travel habits to give you the most sought after holiday destination.
Bounce analysed TikTok hashtags to see where Britons most liked to holiday in 2022.
Staycations have become all the more popular since the pandemic with no other options available for a long period of time.
Short weekend breaks have also been popular as a quick, accessible and affordable option.
However, the most popular holiday destination in 2022 according to TikTok was Dubai, UAE.
This sunny spot amassed an enormous 81.8 billion views between January and December.
Dubai is known for its modernity, luxury shopping and incredible architecture.
The Burj Khalifa – towering at a huge 2,717 ft – is currently listed as the tallest building in the world.
Holidaymakers can also bask in the sun and enjoy tours in the vast desert.
On a webpage dedicated to reviewing Dubai holidays, many travel enthusiasts spoke highly of the UAE destination.
One called it “one of the most exciting [places] in the world”, while another called it “very impressive” – albeit “a work in progress” with lots of building work going on.
Another Dubai fan commented: “I just love it – the weather, the people, the excellent standard of hotels.” “Hot, clean and relaxing” was another top review.
Another seconded this, calling it a “fantastic place” they would “recommend to anyone”. A third described it as “up and coming” with “plenty to do”.
The second most popular destination was New York City, USA, home to the Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge and of course, Times Square.
The expensive yet vibrant destination racked up a huge 59.5 billion views on TikTok this year.
London was the third most popular on the list, with the hashtag reaching an impressive 36.8 billion views on TikTok.
Tourists can flock to the London Eye, Big Ben, The Shard or the impressive range of museums.
Istanbul, Turkey, Paris, France and Miami, USA were the fourth, fifth and sixth most popular TikTok destinations in 2022, respectively.
Los Angeles, Chicago, and Toronto, Canada also made the top 10 list.
Madrid, Spain – a British favourite holiday destination – also made the top 10 most searched holiday destinations this calendar year.
Britons opt for Spain all year round to escape from the gloomy weather and into a land of sun, sea and sand.
