The Government announced the scrapping of travel Covid tests for fully vaccinated travellers this week. From February 11, it will be easier to come back to the UK when jetting off on holidays overseas.

Travel rules and requirements will vary depending on holidaymakers’ destination, and Britons are advised to keep an eye on local rules.

However, the UK’s scrapping of travel testing has spurred Britons into holiday booking overdrive.

On the Beach has already seen an increase of 150 percent on holiday sales.

And the company is predicting the “biggest wave of holiday bookings the travel industry has seen in the last two years this weekend”.

Britons were staying true to their favourite holiday destinations this year.

Tenerife, Majorca and Lanzarote were the three top destinations for holidaymakers.

Besides Spain, Greece also made the top 10 with Rhodes and Crete extremely popular.

Turkey also had two destinations on the list, Antalya and Dalaman.

Spain, Greece and Turkey made up the top 10 destinations Britons are booking for their holidays.

Other popular holiday destinations, such as Italy, France and Portugal, were nowhere to be found.

Which didn’t mean Britons weren’t booking for a holiday in the sun on the Cote d’Azur.

But the most popular destinations were unsurprising, with the Canary Islands and the Greek islands firm favourites.

Zoe Harris, Chief Customer Officer at On the Beach, said: “We’re beyond excited to be getting Britons back on their holidays this year.

“We look forward to what we expect will be our biggest trading surge in two years, this January payday weekend.

“This week’s scrapping of test requirements will also give people the peace of mind they need to book with confidence.

“It’s that extra nudge to escape the cold and grey at home in favour of a sunlounger with their name on it.”
