‘Number one’ cheap staycation spot in the UK is perfect for dolphin spotting

Staycations grew in popularity during the pandemic when international travel became near non-existent.

Even though going abroad is now much more possible, many Britons enjoy staycation holidays for ease and to avoid travel chaos.

Staycations are typically also much cheaper than going away, but that doesn’t mean UK holidays can’t be costly.

According to a travel expert, a holiday at home can be just as fun as a holiday abroad, and one particular destination is hard to beat when it comes to being beautiful yet cost-effective.

Mercedes Zach from Asaptickets spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about her top pick – Pembrokeshire.

She stated: “With the summer season in full swing, many people are planning their well-deserved vacations.

“Going abroad and seeing some far-away lands is a great idea, however, there are plenty of budget-friendly destinations worth visiting in the UK as well.

“So instead of flying across the ocean, why not discover what hidden gems Britain has to offer?”

The expert provided Express.co.uk with her “number one staycation recommendation” for “a perfect summer vacation in the UK that will allow you to avoid airport crowds and won’t break the bank”.

Mercedes said: “If you’re looking for a picturesque seaside getaway, Pembrokeshire is one of the best holiday destinations across the whole country, with its rich Welsh heritage, majestic coastline, traditional seaside towns and historical places providing many beautiful spots to visit.

“With over 400 kilometres of shoreline, the county welcomes over four million visitors a year, enjoying some of the UK’s best beaches, including Barafundle Bay and South Beach.

Here you can see dolphins and porpoises, explore wild islands, as well as spot the local wildlife, including puffins and seals.

“Pembrokeshire is a paradise for hikers, swimmers, thrill-seekers and birdwatchers, and has a thriving food scene too.”

And this Welsh county can absolutely be explored and enjoyed on a budget, offering plenty of accommodation options with double rooms for as little as £65, the expert stated.

“Take a train or plan an exciting road trip for the whole family and see for yourself everything it has to offer!”
