A bloke has dubbed Eiffel Tower a "scam" after visiting the French capital – even saying he "felt like he was in the Middle East". He even warned fellow American tourists to stay away claiming they wouldn’t find love in the city – which is known for being romantic.

Twitter page, @SomaKazima, shared a clip of the man insulting the places he visited in the City of Light. These included the Eiffel Tower, graffiti-covered underpasses, clubs and KFC.

Speaking in the video, the man said: "Y’all save all y’all’s money, all your life, to come here. Let me be the one to break your bubble."

Listing off the reasons he disliked the city, the man said: “First of all, Paris stinks. It smells like p*ss, cheese and armpit. Even the d**n pigeons were crazy. Ain’t nothing to do except eat at cafes. You will see a cafe on every corner, there’s no activities here and the food is so mid. That’s why there’s hella fast food, American fast food chains. Because their food don’t taste like s***."

Do you agree that Paris is overrated? Tell us in the comments…

He panned the camera around to show a Paris, KFC and a Popeyes restaurant. But, he wasn’t done insulting the capital of France just yet.

The bloke continued and commented that "that s*** look grimy as hell". While showing people cycling around with graffiti in the background, he added: "Paris look grimy as hell and dungeon, post-apocalyptic."

He showed the view from the tramline and said: "I felt like I was in the Middle East, everywhere you go: graffiti. The buildings weren’t inviting, welcoming, it was actually a horror site to see.

"This was shocking to me, they will never show you that this is what Paris really looks like."

He then showed himself walking towards the Eiffel Tower – and was greatly unimpressed. The man said: "The walkways towards the Eiffel Tower are all dirt so pack accordingly."

He added: "This was the trail to the Eiffel damn Tower, this was the most hyped s*** I’ve ever seen. Outside of this tower there ain’t s*** to do.

"There’s no mime culture, they don’t know how to capitalise off their culture, it’s just a damn tower."

The Eiffel Tower is famed for its night-time light show, but he isn't convinced it's a real reason to go. He explained that "people will tell you to go to the Eiffel Tower at night because in the day it looks like rust".

He added: "You don’t learn much about French culture because they didn’t capitalise off things they’re known for like mimes. Anytime someone says a place looks better at night it’s a red flag."

Finally, he showed himself looking bored in a club in a fishnet top saying "me with the Parisians." He wrote: "IDK who sold this dream to Americans, but if you’re coming out here thinking you about to find the love of your life you a d**n fool. They don’t approach, they not outwardly romantic, no sense of sentimentality, child these people honestly can’t dress."

He moved the camera to show men in t-shirts and women in dresses dancing. He then showed himself reading a book.

The tweet quickly gathered over 17,000 retweets and over 129,000 likes. Many people criticised his summary of Paris.

One man described it as an "uncultured" take, pointing out that Paris has some of "the most extensive museums systems and art collections on earth", adding, "Don’t get me started on a day in Versailles".

Another added: "And on top of that, 70 km from Paris is Fontainebleau- one of the greatest architectural wonders!"

Mr Aries commented: “He got on a Plastic Bubble Vest, a mesh H&M tank top and military boots talkin about somebody can’t dress." While a woman noted: "Saying they can’t dress dressed like that is crazy… and with his attitude no wonder no one approached him."

Onojie said: "This is Europe. Everything he criticised was what the Euro-urban culture represents from the graffiti to the restaurants and so on. Did he expect a Disneyland romantic scene simply because it is Paris? Dude … go back to America. Tourism is not your thing."

While, Dick Riggles added: "This is probably his first time leaving the country. Americans don't grasp the idea that different countries have different cultures."

However, not everyone was upset – and some people even agreed with him. A man named JD said: "I’ve been to 81 countries over four and half years and Paris is near the bottom of places I’ve seen. It is absolutely disgusting."

Calvin Durango asked: "But is it really that dirty. That looks horrible." While a European poster commented: "Don’t bring Europe into this. It’s Paris… Paris is a dump be for real."

While another person wrote: "Paris is overrated and not the best city on earth, but there’s a reason why it’s so popular and famous. Everyone needs to see it once."
