Fbm Holidays looked at over 160 UK locations to find the winners. The results were clear: Keswick, in the Lake District, is the prettiest town in the country and Castle Combe in the Cotswolds the prettiest village.
Towns and villages all over the UK were considered and ranked according to factors including the number of awards the location had won and the number of Instagram hashtags.
Other factors also considered include the number of times a location was mentioned in articles featuring ‘UK’s prettiest places’ and ‘UK’s prettiest towns and villages’ and how many National Trust sites are nearby.
Keswick, with its 400,000 Instagram hashtags, 20 National Trust sites and numerous designations was an unsurprising winner.
The Lake District National Park – of which Keswick is a part – is a popular destination with Britons and overseas visitors.

The picturesque area has everything visitors could wish for, from great walks and pretty lakes to award-winning food and cosy pubs.
Second on the list, Tenby, in Pembrokeshire, is a seaside town with a rich history and 13th-century town walls.
The prettiest town in Wales had the most awards, including being set within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, claiming three Blue Flag Tenby beaches, being a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Special Area of Conservation and being near a Green Flag park.
In third place is Salcombe in Devon. The coastal town is a sailing centre and is located within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The prettiest village in the UK, a separate category, is Castle Combe in the Cotswolds.
Castle Combe is located within the Cotswolds Area of Natural Beauty in Wiltshire.
Wales takes once again second place with Portmeirion. The village had the highest number of article features and the second-highest number of awards after Tenby.
The third prettiest village in the UK, Beaulieu, is in Hampshire.
Beaulieu is within the New Forest National Park and over 100,000 Instagram hashtags.
