Pretty English city named the best festive getaway to visit this winter
Whilst it might be somewhat premature to start discussing Christmas plans, we are already creeping towards November – and it’s good to start planning early to avoid any issues.
Christmas is of course a time to be amongst friends and family, but for some of us it offers a welcome opportunity to get away and experience merry festivities in another part of the country.
A new study conducted by Christmas Tree World has found that of all the cities to visit this Christmas, Manchester tops the list.
The major northern city is bustling with shops, restaurants and attractions, and also has a relatively reasonable average hotel price, amounting to a perfect ten out of ten score in the study.
In total, Manchester has over 220 food, drinks and shopping stalls for visitors to enjoy and its Christmas Markets officially opens from November 10, meaning you can do some of your Christmas shopping more than a month in advance of the big day.

The study also took into account an area’s popularity on social media, accounting for the number of Instagram posts and TikTok views of the region.
In second-place was the idyllic seaside town of Whitby, where you can walk off the turkey and mince pies with a lovely Boxing Day stroll along the beach.
And staying in North Yorkshire, York was ranked in third-place, where the sparkling lights famously drape over the Gothic York Minster cathedral every year.
Rounding-off the top five are Birmingham and Glasgow, with the second-largest city in Britain and the largest Scottish city both seeing huge amounts of popularity on social media, and decent-priced hotels.
