Spain extends ban on Brits yet again – latest travel advice for UK nationals
Spain has extended its UK travel ban once again, it was announced on Thursday.
The travel ban was due to end this Saturday, but the date has now been changed to March 30.
Under current UK coronavirus restrictions, it is illegal to travel abroad for holidays unless you have a legally permitted reason.
On the GOV.UK website, it asks Brits to check travel advice regularly as it's constantly being updated.
Now the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) updated its advice for entry into Spain.
It said: "On December 22, 2020, Spain introduced travel restrictions on passenger travel from the UK by air and sea.
"These measures have been extended until 6pm (GMT+1) on March 30, 2021 (5pm/GMT in the Canary Islands)."
It was also announced British holidaymakers could be allowed back into the country in May.
The Spanish Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Reyes Maroto believes 40% of Spaniards will have received the vaccine by then.
She said: "When we have that percentage of vaccination in spring, we will be in a position to begin the reopening of our destinations in line with what we are working on in the European Union."
For now, strict travel rules are still in place for Spain and there's no information as to what extent it will be lifted in May.

According to the FDCO, travellers will have to undergo a temperature check and a visual health assessment.
It urges jet-setters not to use the NHS for Covid tests for travel.
Brits are currently not allowed to travel abroad for non-essential reasons until May 17 at the "earliest", says Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps.
Details of how international travel will be resumed is expected to be announced on April 12.
