Spain to allow Britons in from Monday: Travel goes ahead despite amber status

Spain holidays will go ahead for Britons as of Monday, despite new and confusing warnings from the UK Government not to travel to “amber countries”.

The update is expected to see thousands of Britons flying to the country next week.

The country is following Portugal’s lead in allowing Britons to the country.

There has been much confusion over travel, despite the British Government’s implementation of a traffic light system.

It is legal to travel to amber countries for holidays, although the Prime Minister has explicitly warned against it.

He said: “I think it’s very important for people to grasp what an amber list country is: it is not somewhere where you should be going on holiday, let me be very clear about that.

“And if people do go to an amber list country, they absolutely have to for some pressing family or urgent business reason, then please bear in mind that you will have to self-isolate, you’ll have to take tests and do your passenger locator form and all the rest of it.”

This is unlikely to stop many Britons from taking advantage of the ability to travel.
