Spanish destination is top of Europe’s winter holiday list
While Spain might not be the first destination that comes to mind during winter, a gorgeous island beach resort is one of this year’s top trending hotspots.
According to statistics from Airbnb, Playa Blanca on the southern tip of Lanzarote island is this year’s top trending European winter destination.
The resort, which is the newest on Lanzarote, has around 9km of coastline, split across three bays.
A tourist ‘Jacqueline E’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Beautiful place. Very relaxing stroll along the promenade.”
‘Kerry M’ said: “Loved Playa Blanca. Perfect for families who are looking for a quiet holiday. It’s so clean and the locals are very friendly. Lots to do and a great base for day trips to other resorts and islands.”

The resort’s three beaches offer a good range of choice for tourists. Playa Blanca is in the centre of the town and is the quietest of the resort’s beaches.
Playa Flamingo is outside the town centre and is a sandy beach close to shops and restaurants.
Playa Dorada, which sits within a manmade cove, is the best beach for tourists who want to try watersports, including banana boats and pedalos.
