Docked along the River Severn, a storey boat is ready to take passengers on a late-night tour along its waters and uncover the dark tales of this ancient Shropshire town. Throughout various evenings throughout October, Sabrina Boat’s Ghost Cruises will sets sail around at night, including passing by the infamous Welsh Bridge.
Unlike other ghost tours, guests can sit comfortably as they hear about the dangers and cold-blooded murders that lurked beneath the dimly lit Victoria Quay.
One legend tells of the ghost of a milk-woman who wanders along Raven Meadows in the dead of night constantly repeating a rhyme.
Another is The Prince Rupert pub, named after the grandson of King James I, who once lived there.
Here, the spirit of a young bride who was left at the altar and a young man dumped by his girlfriend are just some of the ghostly occupants.
Another place considered haunted is Shrewsbury Railway Station. In 1887, the roof on Platform Three collapsed, crushing the carriage of the town’s councillor.
A shadowy figure is said to be near the ramp entrance to Castle Street from this platform.
So if you want to face the scary tales told about Shrewsbury, Sabrina Boat is the must-do activity for a frightful time.
One person who posted about their time in July on TripAdvisor said: “We went on the Ghost Cruise as an evening out with work colleagues.
“It was a really pleasant ride up and down the river with some historical facts and also ghostly stories about Shrewsbury.
“I thought the price of the trip was really reasonable and all that attended really enjoyed it and commented it was something a little bit different that we could all enjoy.”
Ghost Cruises on the Sabrina Boat are running across several dates across October.
Tickets cost £5 per child, £8 per concession, £10 per adult or a family ticket for £25 – dogs are also welcome to attend.
