The beautiful unknown island you can only reach by boat that is a must visit
This beautiful island is rarely talked about but is home to some of the most stunning medieval architecture in the world.
Korcula in Croatia boasts an old town that rivals Croatia’s much more famous Dubrovnik, with incredible views across the Dalmatian coast.
The old town is home to medieval architecture, similar to Croatia’s other more pricey destinations like Hvar. But in Korcula, prices are much more inexpensive, allowing visitors to sample classic Meditteranean food at its finest.
While offering a relaxing atmosphere, there are also plenty of bars for those who want to spend the evening dancing away.
The island is also home to the Kočje Nature Park which offers moss-covered rock formations that date back to the Stone Age, along with prehistoric caves at Vela Spila.

To get there, you can take a car ferry from Split or hop on a catamaran from Split or Dubrovnik for a two hour boat trip across the sea.
Thanks to its much more popular neighbour Hvar, Korcula offers a more secluded feel, with less people frequenting the sandy beaches.
There are also a number of coves to enjoy, with a range of pebbly and rocky bays surrounded by pine forests.
The belltower of St Mark’s Cathedral stand guard over the crowded little houses, visible from boats that pull into the bay.

The town also offers a museum, giving tourists a glimpse into the 16th-century Gabrielis palace. While small, it hosts a both ancient Green and Roman shipwrecks. There are also photographs from World War Two and a reconstruction of the traditional Korculan kitchen.
Moro Beach Stupe is a must visit. Located to the east of the island, it offers clear-blue sea views and a lively bar that offers classic Dalmatian snacks.
You can also visit Marco Polo’s alleged house. The man who travelled along the Silk Road to Kublai Khan’s China was born around 1254, possibly here.
St Anthony’s hill also offers incredible views, with a 102-step stairway scaling the hill and leading up to a small chapel.
