The British beaches that look like they should be overseas
The UK might not be one of the world’s top beach destinations, but its beaches are pretty impressive. New research from Parkdean Resorts has named the beaches in the UK that look like they could be abroad.
Durdle Door – Kleftiko Beach
Kleftiko Beach can be found on the Greek island of Milos and is famed for its crystal clear waters and unique rock formations.
However, Britons don’t need to travel that far to catch a similar vibe as the beach at Durdle Door has its own incredible landscapes.
The water might be colder than on Milos but during the summer Britons could still enjoy a quick dip.
The beach is also just a short walk or drive from another stunning coastal spot, Lulworth Cove.
Filey Beach – West Mabou Beach
West Mabou beach is one of Canada’s most impressive and is known for its golden sand and hiking trails.
British tourists could enjoy similar landscapes at Yorkshire’s Filey Beach without the price of a transatlantic flight.
The sandy beach is close to Scarborough and covers a five mile stretch with golden sand and cliffs.
Filey Beach is a great choice for families as the fine sand is perfect for playing while conditions are also good for kites and horse riding.

Arnside Beach – Halland Beach
Sweden’s Halland Beach is a sandy paradise of natural beauty and one of the country’s top coastal spots.
In the UK, tourists could head to Arnside Beach, Cumbria’s sandy alternative and another dreamy site of natural beauty.
According to Parkdean’s research, a trip to Arnside Beach is far cheaper than a trip to the Scandinavian alternative.
Arnside Beach is dog-friendly and perfect for a long walk with plenty of hiking trails to explore.
Small Hope Beach – Brighton Beach
Melbourne’s Brighton Beach is one of the Australian city’s favourite beaches, but a trip there will cost Britons a pretty penny.
A Parkdean spokesperson said: “The Isle of Wight’s Small Hope Beach is a beacon of colour with its stunning beachside huts that line the sandy shores.”
The Isle of Wight is just a short ferry ride from the mainland and has plenty of attractions to enjoy over a week’s stay.
The island was one of Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday destinations and she spent a lot of her time at Osborne House.
Whitstable Beach – Miami Beach
Just a short train journey from London, Whitstable is fast becoming a trendy day trip destination.
The spokesperson said: “Whitstable Beach in Kent has been dubbed ‘better than Miami’ by celebrities visiting the location and apparently, locals couldn’t agree more.”
The Kent hotspot is a fabulous alternative to the famous Miami beach and is also one of the UK’s best places to eat oysters.
Oysters are best enjoyed during months with the letter ‘R’ in so September through to April could be the best time to visit.
