The ‘incredible’ English beach that looks like beautiful Portugal’s Algarve

Durdle Door, located on Dorset’s Jurassic coast, in England, was recently named one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the UK.

Many travellers have compared the Jurassic coastline with one of the most famous beaches in Algarve, Portugal.

The 95-mile-long Jurassic coastline, which was named a World Heritage Site in 2001, is a beautiful spot with incredible geological history.

Durdle Door is also one of the most photographed coastal spots in the country because of its very unique arch.

The similarity with Camilo Beach, a beautiful location in Algarve, Lagos, is clear due to its distinctive rock formation.

A day trip to Durdle Door, what to do and where to eat:

The Jurassic Coast is a great option for those heading on a beach staycation this summer, but it can also be a fun day trip or weekend getaway.

Travel experts from Ourtasteforlife recommended some of the most “fascinating” spots to visit, including Man O’War Beach, Lulworth Cove and Stair Hole.

There are also some beautiful castles to see, such as Corfe Castle, which was once a royal palace and fortress, and Lulworth Castle.

Other interesting sites near Durdle Door are Old Harry Rocks, an impressive formation that was initially part of the same coastline as the Needles on the Isle of Wight, and the golden cliffs on the West Bay.

The travel site Visit-dorset recommends visiting between September and May “when the beach and roads will be quieter” as it is an extremely popular spot, especially during the summer months.

The advised: “If you do want to visit during peak times, we recommend that you use public transport, walk or cycle, or if you are driving, it is best to arrive early or late in the day to guarantee a parking space.”

Some of the best places to eat and drink near Durdle Door according to Tripadvisor are The Boat Shed, Lulworth Lodge Hotel Bistro and Lulworth Cove Inn Restaurant.

On the travel site, a visitor from Cardiff explained: “Stunning place… Wow, what an incredible place. We parked in Lulworth and explored the cove, before walking to Stair Hole and then doing the short (but steep) walk to Durdle Door.

“Stunning bit of coastline. We then spent a couple of hours paddle boarding at Lulworth Cove, which was glorious and then had a nice swim. Always wanted to visit and was definitely not disappointed. Loved it. So beautiful.”
