The most beautiful British seaside town to visit in autumn named
St Ives topped the autumn rankings as the best seaside spot to visit.
Dreaming of an autumn staycation? A gorgeous seaside destination in the south of England has been named as one of the most beautiful spots to visit in autumn.
The travel expert team at Premier Inn analysed hotspots around the UK to find the prettiest spots to enjoy the autumn season.
While Bath topped the list, a seaside destination came in second place. St Ives, one of Cornwall’s top destinations, topped the rankings for autumn.
A Premier Inn spokesperson said: “The Cornish seaside town is perfect for an autumnal seaside break. A stimultating visit to the Tate Museum, where you’ll find the Barbara Hepworth Garden is a must during autumn in the city.
“Soak up the city’s world-renowned art scene and stay in a classic St Ives local cottage, enjoying the warmth of log fires and the crunchy light brown and yellow of the gardens.”
A visit to the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden is a must during the autumn season. The artist lived and worked in the seaside town from 1949 until 1975.
A tourist ‘loulou089’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Absolutely wonderful. The art is very well displayed in Hepworth old house and beautiful garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.”
Autumn might not be a classic time of year to visit the beach but St Ives is bound to be far quieter than during the summer season.
Many beaches also lift dog bans in October so it’s the perfect time to explore the coastline with a furry friend.
While away the hours in a cosy St Ives cafe. Many of the town’s top restaurants and pubs overlook the coastline and are the perfect place to hole up with a book on a rainy autumn day.

Head out on an autumn coastal walk along the South West Coastal Path. There are also some breathtaking cycle routes in the area which explore the local Cornish countryside.
