The pretty little city named Europe’s most underrated everyone should visit
This beautiful city is said to be one of the most underrated but is a must-visit for 2024 thanks to its unique architecture and array of things to do.
Dusseldorf is the seventh biggest city in Germany but often loses out on tourists to its bigger neighbour Cologne which sits just half an hour south.
But for those who love all things glitz and glamour, this city could be the one for you as the picturesque city has been dubbed Germany’s fashion capital.
The city is uniquely divided by the Rhine River, with its Old Town based on the east bank and modern commercial areas to the west.
In the Old Town, architecture dating back to the 13th century can be found, with the Lambertus Church and Schlossturm (Castle Tower) a must-visit.

Dusseldorf is one of Germany’s wealthiest cities, making it one of the most fashion-conscious destinations in the country.
There is said to be an “unwritten dress code” in most establishments, meaning it’s best to ditch the tank tops and flip flops and opt for something more chic.
Despite its thriving nature during the day, for those who love relaxing in the evening, Dusseldorf is the perfect place with noise kept to a minimum in most neighbourhoods.
For those who love art, there is a free Arts Academy museum that features some of the biggest artists from the 20th century – and it’s said to be one of the leading arts centres in Europe.
And it doesn’t stop there, with more than 100 galleries dotted around the city, especially in the Stadtmitte neighbourhood.
There are also plenty of shopping options, with the Konigsallee holding the title for one of Germany’s most expensive shopping streets with luxury stores like Gucci and Chanel.
With a canal running through the middle and chestnut trees lining the road, it’s also one of the prettiest streets in the whole city.
It runs from the city’s main park, the Hofgarten, and is filled with fantastic architecture, including the Ko-Bogen shopping centre.
