One tiny town has been named among the best and prettiest places in the UK to find impressive presents for loved ones this Christmas.
Cardigan in the Welsh county of Ceredigion has been praised for its lack of tasteless tinsel and historic upmarket shops painted in all colours of the rainbow.
According to a list of the country’s best festive shopping centres published by the Times, the town with a population of about 4,000 people features some of the best independent shops of all varieties.
The Tonnau surf shop, Nant Designs card and book shop, and Custom House Gallery, which sells the work of local artists, are all among those praised.
The town itself features the picturesque Prince Charles Quay and breezy Cardigan Bay, which is steeped in history.

In the 2000s the town underwent a major programme of building work to restore many of the shop facades in its centre to their traditional style.
The town is also home to Cardigan Castle, the Welsh Wildlife Centre and the Mwldan theatre and cinema complex.
