This year’s best ‘budget friendly destinations’
As summer closes in, there’s still time for Britons to book a last-minute holiday. While prices might seem high this year, there are still a few ways to save money.
Express.co.uk spoke to Iona Wark, senior holiday product manager for loveholidays, to see how Britons can save.
Iona said: “Summer 2023 could be the season for something new. And the excitement of exploring a new destination may also help you save a considerable amount of money.
“Our bookings and pricing data shows Tunisia, Bulgaria and Morocco as the most budget friendly destinations for this summer, with other lesser visited destinations including Montenegro and Malta making it into the top 10.”
Thinking outside the box, rather than opting for a popular destination like Spain, could save Britons money.
Be flexible
Iona said: “Whether it be the airport you fly from or the time of day you travel, keep your eyes peeled for the best prices.
“Smaller, regional airports tend to be cheaper, while travelling early in the morning or late into the evening can also lead to significant savings.”
Britons could save by flying from a smaller airport or booking an early morning flight. Although they might seem inconvenient, early morning flights are less likely to be delayed.

Timing is key
Iona told Express.co.uk: “Although summer is right around the corner, it’s not too late to plan a last minute getaway.
“If you’re not confined to travelling when schools break up for the holidays, June and September are likely to present better value for money wherever you decide to jet off to, while July and August tend to be more expensive.”
If British tourists do need to travel during the school holidays, the cheapest time to go is usually late August rather than the start of the summer break.

Cut costs while you’re away
Iona said: “All-inclusive deals are one way of avoiding extra costs while you’re away. With all your meals and drinks at your accommodation included in the price, you can worry less while you’re away and focus more on enjoying your holiday.
“When it comes to things like transfers and getting around while you’re away, it pays to be prepared.”
All-inclusive deals may be the cheaper option for some Britons and holidaymakers won’t have to pay for extras while they’re away.
