Tourists slam posh UK town that’s ‘chaotic’ and filled with entitled ‘yuppies’
Britain has dozens of pretty beach to enjoy in summer – and with the heatwaves across Europe a UK staycation might be a more pleasant option for holidays right now.
Whether you opt to head to the "magical" attractions on the Isle of Wight, or prefer the Cornish coast for "Hawaii-like" beaches. Or you can journey to Devon which has some of the prettiest beaches in the country.
One popular Devon destination – Salcombe – has been labelled he second home capital of the UK. It’s recently attracted rich Londoners and millionaires who have settled on the town as their favourite waterside destination.

But, it seems that despite the beauty of the town it’s rubbed people up the wrong way. Some tourists even said that they would never return, reports DevonLive.
Taking to Tripadvisor, people complained about the town’s parking charges, closed shops and lack of public transport. Some even said that the town was "very overpriced".
One tourist wrote: "Not impressed! Well what can I say! Nowhere to park so we went to the park and ride to find you could park but no buses were running from there. Bus stop was 300 metres away but there were no buses for an hour.
"Went with my elderly parents, who are unstable on their legs, we ended up walking to the town which was not ideal. Very overpriced on everything. We decided we would catch a taxi on the way back as buses were nowhere to be seen!
"We rang 4 taxi ranks up and couldn't get one anywhere. In the end I walked to get my car! All uphill! I left my parents down the bottom and went and picked them up! Don't bother going there if you are disabled! I won't be going there again, it seems to me that this town doesn't want visitors! Very disappointing."
Another person said it was a pity they were unable to actually see any of Salcombe. They said: "On our first trip to Salcombe, we were hoping for a walk around the village and then grab a bite to eat. Sadly, Salcombe was CLOSED!!!!!!!
"We had read that parking was difficult in the area, so we decided to use the park and ride…..which was also CLOSED!!!!
"We then travelled to the car parks that we located further down the hill in Salcombe. Two of which were also closed…..We were going round in circles, along with a stream of other cars, so we decided to leave. Salcombe clearly isn’t interested in revenue from visitors.
"Get your act together Salcombe, you’re not that posh, that the small businesses can afford to turn custom away."

A third said their holiday was "chaotic, stressful, disappointing and saddening". They said: "I have been going to Salcombe for 18 years and seen a dramatic change in the last five years at least and not a good one. This year was my last!
"Where do I start, the extortionate prices to rent a holiday home for a week that is sometimes quite grotty! That generally doesn't have parking! And the ones that do generally have a lot of politics attached to them.
"The diminishing number of places to eat and drink and the ones that are left seem to have lost the will to live or generally just don't care they are providing an appalling in comparison to the prices being charged.
"The prices everywhere seem to be far higher than inflation. A day at the beach means a long walk carrying all of your things needed especially with a young family as there is very limited parking at North sands and none at South – and if that isn't enough to put you off the general welcome you get from shopkeepers or any staff serving food or drink is far from pleasant. And to top an already terrible week my brand new Havaianas flip flops were stolen from North sands."
Not everyone was disappointed in Salcombe though as some posters praised the town. One person said: "Offering fabulous views up and down the estuary, Salcombe really is the very best of Devon. So much to see and do while in a relaxed and laid back setting. For boating, walking, shopping and eating there is little to compare with sensational Salcombe."
While one holidaymaker from Switzerland added: "Salcombe is one of the most beautiful places in the UK. The blue green waters and golden Sands are simply stunning."
However, they added: "Salcombe seems to have lost its soul and in the busy periods it is invaded by loud yuppie types who think they are entitled to do what they wish with no concern for others."
