Travel firm offers green-fingered customers a ‘plant-sitting service’ so their flowers don’t die when they head off on holiday
- Contiki travellers will be offered the chance to have two plants looked after
- It will be open to customers who are on Contiki holidays lasting 10 days or more
- The plants must be no taller than one metre and will be replaced if they die
A travel firm is offering its green-fingered customers peace of mind while they are on holiday with the launch of a new ‘plant sitting’ service.
The service will give travellers the chance to check-in two of their house plants at a location in central London.
There staff will look after the plants, ensuring that they don’t die while their owners jet off.

The plant-sitting service is being offered by travel brand Contiki, which specialises in trips for 18 to 35-year-olds.
It is available until the end of August and is open to Contiki travellers on trips longer than 10 days that depart and end at the Contiki Basement in Russell Square, London, where the plants will be looked after.
The plants must be no taller than one metre and the service is extended to no more than two house plants per person.
Contiki says that if any plants in their care don’t survive, it will replace them with a brand new plant.

But it said: ‘Disclaimer: we’re better at holidays than we are at house plants.’
Donna Jeavons, sales and marketing director for Contiki UK and Europe, said: ‘At Contiki, we aim to make holidays stress-free so that our millennial travellers can relax and focus on exploring the world.
‘We take care of all the essentials on-trip so it was a natural next step to take the pre-trip hassle out of finding a plant sitter!’
