Plenty of Brits love finding out tips and tricks to make their holidays more enjoyable.

Whether it’s reducing the cost of luggage, making the flight more comfortable or getting some kip when on a red eye it all adds up to a better trip.

And, who knows more about making travel as fun as possible than travel influencers?

These savvy holidaymakers travel the world sharing reviews, recommendations and tips.

Mum and full-time influencer Evie Farrell, @mumpacktravel, recently shared some of her favourite travel tips with Mamamia – and some are also firm favourites with flight attendants.

Stuff a pillow case with clothes

When flying you may want to bring more items than will fit in your carry on, but refuse to pay the fees for hold luggage or extra bags.

Evie recommended taking a pillowcase stuffed with clothes onto the flight as staff usually won’t count a pillow as extra luggage.

She’s not the only person who's used the trick before. Anayo, who lives in Bay Area in California, learned about the clever move on TikTok.

The TikToker says in a video: "You can use a travel pillow as additional storage – so I got this pillow from Walgreens for $9 (£6.5) and there's a zipper! Look at all this random filling. Make sure to get a pillow with a zipper for easy stuffing."

In fact, she even claims the trick saved her £40.

Essential oils for plane smells

Evie noted that sometimes the plane doesn’t smell so fresh – especially after a long haul flight – so essential oils could be the trick.

Evie wrote: “A wafting stench once woke me from my snooze, so now I always put some peppermint oil (or Vicks if you need heavy duty) under my nose or in my mask.

“I also take my Dermalogica face mask on board with me and lather it on so it soaks into my skin during the flight and provides a barrier.”

Of course you may not want to pick oils that are too strong or your fellow passengers won't thank you – and make sure you stick to the 100ml rule or you won't be able to bring them on board at all.

The best seats

Different people have different preferences when it comes to the seat you choose on your flight.

Many like the aisle seat so they can go to the loo without disturbing anyone while others like the window to lean against when sleeping. (One man divided the internet after he refused to close the window blind because he wanted to look outside).

If you do opt for the window seat, one flight attendant claims you should never rest your face against plane windows for hygiene reasons.

Evie recommends using SeatGuru to make sure you have a good view – nobody likes having half a window – and to avoid the smelly, noisy toilet seats.

It seems that cabin crew share the same sentiment.

When sharing their own flight hacks and secrets, one Wizz Air flight attendant said: “The front and back of the plane are always going to be high traffic areas as it’s where the bathrooms are located. Therefore, it’s likely that this is where the most distractions will be.”
