UK’s ‘most gorgeous beach’ compared to Hawaii and Maldives is nudist hotspot
A UK beach that's popular with nudists has been named one of the most beautiful in the world – which is no surprise considering it's often compared to the Caribbean by impressed visitors, with one saying it's "the most gorgeous beach I have ever visited".
Pedn Vounder in Cornwall has been crowned the UK's prettiest beach, and it's in good company with other beaches from destinations like Hawaii, the Maldives, the Seychelles and Australia.

The Cornish hotspot was the first UK beach in the world 50 rankings by travel experts at Big 7 Travel, taking the 25th spot overall.
The travel pros explained: "Cornwall has long been a summer getaway destination for local families, but its gorgeous coastline has caught the eye of international travellers. Despite the crowds, Pedn Vounder is still one of the UK’s most beautiful beaches. Combining crystal clear blue water and white sand, it’s proof that you don’t need to hotfoot to the Caribbean for a tropical island-inspired getaway."
It's clearly a hit with visitors too, if their Tripadvisor reviews of the beach are anything to go by. The beach's gorgeous views, crystal-waters and remote location have made it a hit, although some holidaymakers have warned that it is a nudist beach, after other people were caught offguard.
One person wrote: "Totally amazing- but mainly writing this review for some advice for others, we've been going for 30 years, but due to social media lots of people now trying. You need to be pretty fit, mobile and able to descend down a cliff face to access – getting down with buggies or people with mobility difficulties will find it difficult. Also it is a nudist beach, has been for years and years – if people have an issue with this, it's probably not the beach for you."
Another added: "Stunning little beach, difficult to get to, don't go if not nimble on your feet. Yes its a nudist beach, lots of nude folk, so if offended don't go there's lots of other beaches nearby where you can [wear] as much as you like, leave the nudes to their own thing. Water can be rough and known area for rip tides."
Pedn Vounder wasn't the only UK beach to impress. Rhossili Bay in Swansea also made the cut in 42nd place. The Big 7 Travel team said: "Three miles of golden sands await you in the Gower Peninsula of Wales. It’s a bit of a hike down a steep cliff-top path to get there (and even harder to get back up), but all good things require a bit of effort. It’s a popular surfing spot, or you can just relax and enjoy the beach – it’s kept pristine under the watchful eye of the National Trust."
