There’s something special about a winter staycation in the UK. With Christmas lights and cheer, there are a few gorgeous destinations that could help Britons get in the holiday spirit.

The team at Stelrad found the UK’s prettiest winter staycation destination was Harrogate in North Yorkshire.
They looked at hashtags to find the best rated destinations in the UK for the winter festive season.
The Victorian spa town has plenty to occupy tourists this winter with twinkly Christmas lights giving it a little extra sparkle.
A visit to Harrogate isn’t complete without a visit to the city’s Turkish Baths where guests can unwind in ornate Moorish-style settings.
Tourists should also pay a visit to Valley Gardens, a stunning park in Low Harrogate, perfect for a winter stroll.
A visitor wrote on Tripadvisor: “The entire park was a delight but I especially liked the Japanese Garden, it was beautiful. If you find yourself in Harrogate, these gardens are a must do!”
Harrogate’s famous Christmas Fayre opens on December 2 and will run until December 11 this year.
Guests will be able to purchase arts and crafts as well as sample many delicious Christmas treats.
Of course, a visit to the city isn’t complete without a stop at Bettys Cafe Tea Rooms, the home of afternoon tea.
Shrewsbury was the second best rated destination and the market town is famous as the birthplace of Charles Darwin.
Visitors can explore the town’s historic buildings and visit the regimental museum housed in the sandstone castle.
Dover was the third prettiest destination for a winter staycation and tourists can admire the white cliffs.
Visitors to Dover could also visit the Dover Museum and Bronze Age Boat Gallery to find out more about local history.
Keswick in Cumbria took the fourth spot and the pretty Lake District town is the perfect base to explore the famous destination.
Conwy and Llandudno both made the list and are two of the prettiest destinations for winter in Wales.
Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon was rated as one of the best destinations and the town will host a four day Victorian Christmas market at the start of December.
