The couple behind Travel Beans, Alex Collins and Emma Cox, have spent the latter half of lockdown travelling the UK in a converted campervan. They have been rediscovering Britain and documenting their travels on their Youtube channel.

The couple, who update followers on their Instagram account, have pinpointed Somerset as a potential travel destination in England.

Alex said: “I’m a big advocate for Somerset.

“It is very underrated, especially as it’s the gateway to Devon and Cornwall, which everyone seems to love.”

Somerset is known for many things, including a fascinating pagan history.

It is also the site of the Glastonbury Festival.

Travellers can visit the Cheddar Gorge as well as the sites of Exmoor.

The area is known for Cheddar cheese and cider, and Bath is known for its links to writer Jane Austen.

Cornwall and Devon are hugely popular, with prices that can reflect that.

Britons may find a cheaper stay in Somerset.

The couple also recommended the South Downs. Alex said: “We went to the South Downs, which is a close one to London.

“It’s a great one to show to people because you don’t hear that much about it but it’s so beautiful.”

Emma went on: “The South Downs was a big surprise. There was so much to do.

“There was outdoorsy stuff, but there were also vineyards, lovely wine, beaches, and castles.”

Emma went on: “We definitely encourage people to try and see where you’re from through the eyes of a tourist.

“I think it just gives an appreciation, which is something that we’re very passionate about and encourage people to do.”

The tip comes as a waitress detailed Cornwall can’t cope with the influx of tourists.

Emily Gimblett, 20, is a waitress in Newquay, Cornwall, said: “I have never seen it this busy, it is ridiculous… The amount of staff we have can’t cope with the influx.”

Another travel expert suggested a UK staycation destination to avoid “busy” Cornwall and Devon.

Alex Outhwaite, who presents Off The Grid and Backpack on Travelxp, on SKY in the UK, has traveled to almost 70 countries across the globe.

The travel expert told Express.co.uk her hidden UK staycation gem.

Alex said: “The Yorkshire Wolds are maybe going to be added to the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

“I think it’s been 25 years since they added a new place to the list.”

The UK’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) are locations boasting stunning views and countryside activities.
