Located on the edge of Ashdown Forest, in Hartfield, East Sussex, is Pooh Corner, a cafe dedicated to the silly old bear created by A.A. Milne. The famous bear, beloved for his love of honey and stuffed with fluff, is one of Disney’s most popular characters, along with Tigger, Rabbit and Eeyore.

Customers can sit in Piglet’s Tea Room and enjoy Teddy Bear Toast, before having a walk around the museum dedicated to exclusive memorabilia – and it’s free!

Opening in 2019, the fans can learn about the lives of the author, illustrator E.H.Shepard, Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh himself.

With the yellow bear turning 95 this year, this a perfect reason to plan a visit for any enthusiasts of the books, films and TV show.

Don’t forget to play a game of Pooh Sticks on Pooh Bridge just like the real Christopher Robin and have a look for Eeyore’s house in the forest.

Before you type in the Hundred Acre Wood into the sat nav, fans may be surprised to learn the fictional forest is actually called the Five Hundred Acre Wood.

Inspired by the stunning natural landscape, A.A. Milne drew inpiration for many of the famous settings from Owl’s House to Sandy Pit where Roo plays.

Five Hundred Acre Wood is long-established, having been originally sold off from Ashwood Forest in 1678 and remains privately owned.

TikTok user @binitashahpatel visited Pooh Corner, describing it as a ‘must visit for any Winnie the Pooh lover’.

She shared clips of her teddy bear toast with jam, and their popular cream teas, as well as a sneak peek inside the museum filled with glass cabinets of precious Pooh pictures and plushies.

One commenter said: “I love Pooh Corner. Shop is amazing and the cakes make the trip so much better.”

The original owner, Mike Ridley and his wife Jan created the gift and tea shop in 1978, eight years after Sackville Cottage was officially renamed Pooh Corner.

Mike, who was a potter, used his skills to create Winnie the Pooh ceramics under licence from Disney and regularly met with Christopher Milne, the author’s son.

The cafe is now owned by couple Neil and Samantha Reed, originally known as Sackville Cottage, in 2019.
