‘Wife on board’ lives on cruise ship for £284-a-month with free food all day
Bills have been expensive for many Brits this year with rent and mortgage rates super high.
However, sadly, most of us don’t have the option to leave our homes as we’d have nowhere to go!
But, one women has explained that she’s sourced alternative accommodation in rather an unusual place.

Christine Kesteloo lives in the lap of luxury on a cruise ship, and shares plenty of insight into life on board on her TikTok channel @dutchworld_americangirl.
As for the cost? She pays the equivalent of approximately £71.02 a week in board.
Now, not everyone will be able to access the same incredible opportunity unfortunately.
Christine has lived at sea on ships for 12 years and was a cruise and travel director until she was made redundant in 2020.
Now, she’s a "wife on board" for six months of the year because her husband is a staff chief engineer.
So, for part of the year Christine gets to pay just $87 a week and gets to tuck into all the free meals and laundry onboard, reports the Sun.
She and her husband also get to live in a spacious cabin on the ship.
But, Christine says that being "surrounded" by delicious and freely available food is actually the "worst part" of her lifestyle.
She commented: "One of the hardest things about living on a cruise ship is that I know right now, if I just leave my cabin, I can go and have cookies, pizza, a shake, I could have anything I wanted and I want it, I absolutely want it.
" am laying here, it is 2pm, I had a salad for lunch, I had some fresh fruit, but that didn’t fill me up.
"Right now, all I can think about is eating a burger with some French fries and some mayonnaise.
"And that, folks, is the absolute hardest part about living on a cruise ship."
In a previous video, Christine showed the buffet that has been set out for lunch – which is included in her room cost.
It included customisable salad bowls, stuffed sandwiches, pasta options, burgers, Mexican foods like tacos and enchiladas and tonnes of puddings like gelato and cookies.
There are bars by the pool with lots of drink options.
In a video about room service Christine showed that she ordered a Caesar salad, chocolate cake, quesadillas, a baked potato and penne pasta.
So, it’s safe to say that we understand why it’s hard to say no more to the food!
Christine’s video went viral with over 14,000 likes and people had plenty to say in the comments…
One person wrote: "It’s definitely a struggle! On our Alaska cruise this past August, I would get a hot chocolate every time I could. I don’t like hot drinks at home."
"I gained five pounds on my last Disney cruise," added another. "And it was only four days."
Another wrote: "That’s the dream, to just live on a cruise ship. I would love to."
While one woman suggested: "You have a full gym and deck to walk around!"
And, another admitted they’d struggle noting: "I’d be huge if I lived there. I would feel like I’m on a constant vacation and who diets on vacation?"
