Woman slams ‘absolutely ridiculous’ scramble at hotel’s sunbed wars
We Brits are terrible when it comes to reserving sun loungers on holiday. You’ll often see some UK folk competing with our fellow guests to wake up at the crack of dawn to bag the best spots.
Some of us prefer poolside, while others want to relax near the snack bar – but to get the prime position you need to be prepared to fight for it. That is, unless your hotel has banned towel reservations… some do.
Well, that’s not the case at one resort in Majorca. TikTok poster Gillian, @makeup_cleanse_repeat, documented the wild activity of the people staying in her hotel, reports the Sun.

She said that they’re not even getting up early, but instead put their towels on the sunbeds in the evening – and leave them there for seven days straight. Gillian showed people reserving an entire row of sun loungers in the video as she enjoyed her trip to Spain.
She said: "It's 7 o'clock at night, and these people reserve their sunbeds for the whole week. They don't move them."
Gillian showed the beach loungers covered in towels and noted: "They lie there so you can't get a sunbed. It is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous."
The woman added: "Out of all of the sunbed situations out there I’ve ever seen this is the most ridiculous."
Over 23,000 people liked Gillian’s post and hundreds commented on the "worst sunbed wars" clip. One man, Vincent Hurrell said: "I’d moving the sun beds around!"
Another poster added: "Just move the stuff… if it’s been unoccupied for two hours, I’m that’s unreasonable. Just move the towels."
Another joked: "Throw all the towels in the sea. Then you can have any sunbed you want!" While Bailey noted: "I would get up in the morning. Keep an eye and if nobody returns to there beds with half hour and bags etc aren’t there I'd remove towel myself."
Some posters blamed the hotel saying there should be a policy in place. While others were surprised that people wanted to lounge around all day.
"You genuinely couldn’t PAY ME to go to hotels like these," said Nic. While Vanessa asked: "Do people not leave the pool? Go enjoy the city? Go to the beach?"
Leah Mayman added: "Best hotel I went to they provided everyone the same towel. Can’t reserve. They just remove them."
