For an experience off-the-beaten track, Kipling recommended exploring Blankenese, a village with several seaside restaurants.
Hamburg’s Red Light District, the Reeperbahn, is the centre of the city’s nightlife and tourists can take a tour of the area.
Another German city was the second safest destination for tourists. Munich, the capital of Bavaria, is another top destination for solo women travellers.
Famed as the home of Oktoberfest, the city is also packed with walkable green spaces and architectural gems.
The spokesperson said: “Brimming with architectural wonders, Munich’s Adam Church is a top-rated attraction within the city.
“With Baroque architecture and detailed paintings, the tiny church is said to have a huge personality.”
A little closer to home, Edinburgh grabbed third place on the list. The Scottish capital is one of the world’s safest destinations for women.
The spokesperson said: “Edinburgh has a buzzing dining scene for keen foodie travellers, from Michelin star restaurants to award-winning cocktail bars.”
