Wrecked plane abandoned on 500ft clifftop transformed into luxury holiday home

  • An abandoned plane has been transformed into a luxury holiday hotspot, where tourists pay thousands to spend the night in the wreckage.

The Boeing 737 sits atop a 150m cliff above the white sands of Bali's Nyang Nyang beach, and the unusual rental boasts all the amenities necessary for a swanky getaway, from a private swimming pool to a glass-edged walkway across the plane's wing.

And while many would think twice about staying any longer than necessary in a crashed plane, the 'Private Jet Villa by Hanging Gardens Air' clearly attracts an elite clientele.

Just one night in the unique holiday home will set you back an eye-watering £6,000.

The plane was originally owned by the now-defunct Indonesian company Mandala Airlines, but was bought by Russian-born Bali resident and businessman, Felix Demin, last year, the Daily Mail reported.

Demin transported the then-disassembled model to the cliff in September 2021 by truck and crane, spending a week getting the vehicle's composite parts to its new home.

He explained the plane was going to be sold as scrap metal to China when he bought it, thinking it would become a popular spot for photographers hoping to capture Bali's world-renowned scenery.

"Externally and structurally, this is a jet aircraft that we have turned into a luxury hotel," Demin, who already owned two other luxury rentals in Bali, wrote on his website.

Holidaymakers are treated to two tastefully-decorated bedrooms with separate bathrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, a private bar area, and free private parking.

Breakfast is also available a-la-carte and there is free Wi-Fi for those who want to take their remote working to the next level.

And the exterior of the plane hasn't been forgotten either.

Perfectly-maintained gardens play host to an outdoor seating area, complete with an L-shaped sofa and a firepit for cozy evenings at the luxury plane wreck.

And for those who like a dip, the idyllic swimming pool looks out onto the Indian Ocean.

Private Jet Villa by Hanging Gardens Air may sound like the perfect getaway, but those itching to crash – literally – at the luxury spot will sadly have to wait.

The hot new destination isn't open for bookings until April 2023, and is already gaining plenty of attention online.

The incredible villa isn't the first mind-blowingly cool renovation we've seen done in the last few years.

You can stay in a very cool double decker bus in East Yorkshire – and it's far cheaper than the Bali option.

Alternatively opt for a converted army bus in South Wales that even has a hot tub outside.
