You can book a helicopter Airbnb to sleep right by UK lake and wake park
Holidaymakers looking for a kooky place to stay this year need look no further than one of Airbnb’s most unusual UK stays. The Ream Hills helicopter is a full-sized aircraft that has been parked and converted into a cool holiday stay for up to four guests at once close to Blackpool.
The converted Lynx helicopter is still covered in camouflage and has been professionally converted into an overnight stay. The chopper is a 1982 Westland Lynx XZ676 which can sleep two adults and two children in the custom made bunks in the tail and the living area of the aircraft.
Not only are there comfy beds, but there’s also a kitchen sink, mini fridge and microwave, plinth heater, LED TV and fancy LED lighting. The toilet and showers are in a separate block on-site and are included in your stay plus the helicopter has Wi-Fi too.

There’s also a garden table and chairs for you to enjoy alfresco dining and a parking space so you can drive to the helicopter which is parked in Preston, England. One night stays in the helicopter cost from just £110 a night – that’s £27.50 each if you stay as a family of four.
It’s the perfect staycation spot for anyone who loves machines and vehicles. It’s not just the accommodation that’s impressive though as you’ll have access to the nearby lake and you can even walk to Blackpool Wake Park.
Set in tranquil countryside you can get up to all sorts on the lake from kayaking, paddle boarding and wakeboarding as well accessing as an aqua park during the summer months. The 10 acre lake is surrounded by the rolling hills of Fylde and the lake is also open for wild swimmers. Blackpool itself is just a short drive away so you can get stuck into the Pleasure Beach, have fish and chips on the prom or head up the tower for great views. Alternatively, head to Madame Tussauds Blackpool or check out the Winter Gardens.
The Airbnb listing states: "Situated amongst idyllic country lanes and large tracts of farmland, Ream Hills are the winners of the 2018 Lancashire Tourism Award for Holiday Villages. Our helicopter is the perfect place for a birthday treat for children of all ages, or if you just fancy something completely out of the ordinary!"
The one downside to the stay is that you will need to bring your own bedding or sleeping bags as these are not provided. The helicopter is also non-smoking and pets are not allowed inside.
In the reviews, holidaymakers raved about the unusual stay. Hayley, from Peterborough, said: "What a cool stay this was! Bought as a surprise for my husband and it didn't disappoint. Quirky yet comfortable and definitely a stay that was memorable. Close by to Blackpool and lovely surroundings, really recommend this if you're looking for something different!"
While, Carla added: "Lovely clean site, great shower facilities, friendly staff. There *is* a kettle provided and a hairdryer in the shower rooms so don't bring your own unless picky. Spotlessly clean. Great pub for food just down the road. Terrace to sit outside on warmer days."
