You can now stay overnight at a British vineyard and sleep inside a wine barrel
Mad about Merlot or passionate about Pinot?
You can take your love to the next level by staying overnight on a vineyard – in your very own wine barrel.
The quirky overnight experiences are being offered at Melbury Vale Winery, which is set within 28 gentle acres of rolling countryside in Dorset's beautiful Stirkel Valley near Shaftesbury.
According to Somerset Live, there are three wine barrel pods that guests can hire out.
The website explains: “Peaceful and exclusive, there are just three timber barrels available from Easter to September.
“Named after our vines, Pinot Noir, Solaris and Rondo, they are set on the hillside in the beautiful rolling Dorset countryside, with the vineyard just above and the gently babbling Stirkel brook below.”
Each “glamping” area has its own double bed inside, as well as a seating and dining area.
There’s also two exterior verandah seats, so holidaymakers can unwind and take in the stunning scenery around them.
Toilet and shower facilities aren’t in the pods – but you can find them at the winery.
There’s also shared, self-service catering facilities in the ‘gypsy caravan’; complete with crockery, cutlery, glasses, utensils, kettle, toaster and microwave.
For a comfy experience, all you need to bring is bedding in the form of sleeping bags, air-beds or rolls mats.
You’ll also need to pack towels and toiletries before heading to the vineyard.
The staycation is pretty affordable as you can book out a barrel for £69 per night.
Alternatively, you can book a deal with extras included.
The weekend experience costs £185 and comes with lunch and a Saturday tour of the winery thrown in.
