City Experiences' Venture Ashore takes off
City Experiences officially launched Venture Ashore, which it calls the world’s largest independent cruise excursion provider, featuring more than 5,000 tours from 111 countries and over 500 ports.
City Experiences is part of the Hornblower Group, which last year purchased the failed ShoreTrips cruise excursions seller, saying it would revive its operations with “support” from its founders, Barry and Julie Karp.
“We are thrilled to launch Venture Ashore and share with travelers our collection of tour offerings that will fully immerse you in the sights, sounds, tastes, passions and cultures in cruise destinations around the globe by creating personal connections and one-of-a-kind encounters,” said Rinat Glinert, COO of Venture Ashore. “Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly adventure, a bespoke private tour or a fun way to explore a port of call with new friends, Venture Ashore has something for everyone.”
Glinert, who was named COO in December, held positions with Royal Caribbean International before launching a company that created technology tools for independent tour guides.
Venture Ashore will offer extensive private and small-group tours, varying by destination and demand, accommodating up to 25 people or as few as six. The company will provide flexible booking policies, such as full refunds up to 24 hours prior to the excursion and a “back-to-ship” guarantee. An “Essential Collection” of tours will range from culinary encounters to walking experiences and feature “the most important things to experience in each destination to maximize your time ashore at a great value,” the company said.
Venture Ashore will leverage City Experiences’ operating system, Anchor, which has functionality for travel advisors to book for their clients.
