Disney's Polynesian Village Resort tabbed for vacation club expansion: Travel Weekly
Walt Disney World is expanding its Polynesian Village Resort, detailing plans to add Disney Vacation Club villas by late 2024.
“It’s no secret that our members and guests love the monorail resorts at Walt Disney World,” said Bill Diercksen, Disney Vacation Club’s senior vice president and general manager. “Expanding our Disney Vacation Club offerings at the Polynesian would give our members and guests yet another incredible option for staying close to the magic.”
The proposed building would be situated along the Seven Seas Lagoon and offer views of the Magic Kingdom.
In addition to the villa accommodations, the project is also expected to include new recreation offerings and dining options. Disney Vacation Club said more details will be announced at a later date.
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows — the segment of Polynesian Village Resort that operates as part of Disney Vacation Club — currently has 380 Disney Vacation Club villas.
Just last year, the Polynesian Village Resort unveiled a refreshed guestroom design inspired by the animated film “Moana,” as well as updates to its Great Ceremonial House entrance area and monorail station.
The Polynesian announcement follows the sales opening of Disney Vacation Club’s new villas at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to members on March 3. The villas will be made available to the public on March 31.
The villa expansion includes 200 resort studios that are expected to open in late June.
