Fairmont to operate redeveloped hotel in Long Beach, Calif.: Travel Weekly
The Breakers Hotel in Long Beach, Calif., which is currently under redevelopment, will be reborn as a Fairmont hotel next year.
The landmarked building, which originally opened in 1926, has not operated as hotel since the late 1980s, but has more recently been home to the Cielo cocktail bar and Sky Room restaurant venues. (Both outlets have since shuttered.)
Upon reopening in 2023, the hotel will operate as Fairmont The Breakers, Long Beach and have 185 guestrooms.
The property will also house five food-and-beverage venues, including a reopened version of the Breakers’ Sky Room restaurant.
The hotel also will have a rooftop pool and terrace, an open-air rooftop lounge and bar, a two-story spa and fitness center, and a jazz club and music lounge.
Notably, the property is adjacent to the Long Beach Convention Center.
“Fairmont’s presence in Long Beach allows us to grow both our convention and pleasure travel markets,” said Steve Goodling, Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau president and CEO. “Previously, certain conventions were not able to choose our destination because we were unable to offer a luxury boutique hotel.”
Fairmont The Breakers will be Fairmont’s third hotel in greater Los Angeles, along with the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica and the recently revamped Fairmont Century Plaza, Los Angeles.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is part of the Accor portfolio of brands.
