Just because the Breeders' Cup will run without fans in the stands this year doesn’t mean people can’t celebrate from home. And they’ll have some help doing just that thanks to one very special 2020 ambassador.
On Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, the 37th running of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships will run at Keeneland in Lexington, Ky. The event will be broadcast live on NBC, NBCSN, NBCSports.com, and the NBC Sports app, as well as on BreedersCup.com and the Official Breeders’ Cup app, so everyone can watch every thrilling moment from a variety of platforms. But, beyond streaming, fans can also virtually party alongside supermodel Kate Upton, who signed on to be an ambassador for the famed race.
Like everyone else, Upton will be watching and celebrating from home, but will make an appearance during the NBC broadcast of Breeders’ Cup on Nov. 7. As for her at-home celebration, Upton says she’ll be donning a custom-made fascinator by renowned milliner Christine Moore, and crafting her own Breeders’ Cup Official Cocktails. Upton says she’ll make herself the vodka-based Garland, while her husband, Justin Verlander, will likely sip the bourbon-based Torrie Cup. She’ll even be betting on the big race too. Just in case you wanted to bet like Upton, she says her choice horse this year is Swiss Skydiver.
Upton says she’ll also be making No-Bake Bourbon Balls, a dish she makes for every big race when she’s at home and not actually at the track. Want to join her? Follow along with her bourbon ball recipe below so you can enjoy a sweet treat before tuning into the race this weekend.
