IHG overhauls and renames loyalty program: Travel Weekly
IHG Hotels & Resorts has rebranded and revamped its IHG Rewards loyalty program, rolling out the updated platform under a new name: IHG One Rewards.
Chief among the program’s changes are new tier and bonus-point earning structures, which IHG says are designed to “allow members to earn more points faster and gain rewards sooner.” The upgraded tiers and points system go into effect today and will be reflected in all member accounts on or before April 17.
The IHG One Rewards tiers include Club, Silver Elite, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite levels. Member stays from Jan. 1, 2022 will count toward members’ new status.
Under the new system’s enhanced benefits, Diamond Elite members can now select free breakfast as their welcome amenity choice. Both Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite members will receive more opportunities for early check-in, late checkout and room upgrades, as well as access to reward night discount promotions.
Another new benefit option is Milestone Rewards. Guests can take advantage of the Milestone Rewards platform after 20 nights stayed, getting the choice to select rewards every 10 through 100 nights stayed. Milestone Rewards choices include perks such as points, $20 F&B rewards, confirmable suite upgrades and annual lounge memberships.
All benefits, as well as the Milestone Rewards platform, will become available to members by early June 2022.
In line with the changes, IHG plans to unveil a new IHG One Rewards mobile app, which the company said will offer members a more “streamlined” experience when it comes to booking and check-in. Current IHG loyalty members will be prompted to update their app via either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
According to Claire Bennett, IHG’s global chief customer officer, the IHG One Rewards rollout marks one of the company’s “largest and most comprehensive investments” in recent years.
The IHG stable currently has 17 brands, including InterContinental, Kimpton, Hotel Indigo, Six Senses, Voco, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, among others.
